By Doug Watson

Winchester, VA-  Continuing his career season, Trever Feathers rolled to his third win of the season in last Saturday nights 35-lap Late Model feature at Winchester Speedway. The win for Feathers, aboard his Barry Wright Race Cars no.20, was the second round of the "Independence Day Summer Classic" and netted the hometown product a $3500 winners check.
Feathers and Jason Covert made up the front row for the start of the event with Feathers out dragging Covert into the first turn to become the race leader. From that point forward, it would be a race for second, as Feathers would lap up to the 8th place car in the non stop event that took just 10 minutes and 25 seconds to complete. "We were hoping for slow and slick here tonight and that's just what we got." Feathers stated post race. "We qualified well tonight and then drew the pole for the feature, so knew if I could beat Jason into the first turn we'd have a shot to win and we were able to get it done." Covert hung tough for second with Kyle Hardy, Ross Robinson and Dale Hollidge rounding out the top five. Heats went to Hollidge and Feathers.
Current Limited Late Model point leader Jonathan DeHaven surged from his second starting spot to lead all 20-laps of the divisions feature for his second win of the season. "It helps to start up front, but we had a great car tonight."  Said DeHaven. "The track was in great shape tonight and I'm glad to get this team another win here tonight." Austin Stover, Danny Zechman, Scott Merryman and Wesley Bonebrake trailed at the finish. Heats went to Bonebrake and DeHaven.
Allen Brannon continued his domination of the RUSH Crate Late Models as he collected hid 6th win of the season in the divisions 20-lap main. Brannon, who lined up 7th for the start, took the lead on lap-10 and drove off uncontested for his overall 8th Crate win of the 2017 season. "I have to thank car owner Jim Stevens." Brannon stated. "I like it when the track is slick and he gave us a great car tonight, I hope we can keep winning for him and this team." Mike Franklin, Kyle Lee, Devin Brannon and Transtan Stoner followed at the finish. Heats went to Devin Brannon and Kyle Lee.
Craig Parrill drove an inspired race to score his second Pure Stock feature win of the season in the 25-lap "Leo Nichols Memorial" Parrill, who came from 9th on the grid, wrestled the lead from Chris Sumption on the 23rd lap and would lead the final two circuits to score the $1500 win. "Our car got better the longer we went green." Said Parrill. "Everyone was running the bottom so I went to the top and the car worked real good up there and we were able to get Chris for the lead." Jeremy Tinsman rallied late for second with Rob Nichols,Tony Catlett and Randy Zechman completing the top-five. Heats went to Nichols, Tinsman and Sumption.
