Mid-Atlantic Modified Series Owner, Ryne Pennington, Resigns from his Title

December 12, 2019

The 2019 racing season has come to an end. Series owner and promotor, Ryne Pennington, has made the conscious decision to resign from the Mid-Atlantic Modifieds effectively immediately. We wish Ryne the best in his future as we understand the difficulties of promoting racing. With that being said, Winchester Speedway owner and promoter Greg Gunter would like the modifieds to have a place to race as the Mid-Atlantic Modifieds figure out their next transition. Ernie D’s will be the main sponsor for Open Wheel Modifieds at Winchester Speedway. There will be a points fund and we will crown a champion at the end of the 2020 racing season. Hagerstown Speedway promoter, Lisa Plessinger, has also confirmed she will be adding the Open Wheel Modifieds to her schedule in 2020. These two tracks will not overlap in races. General Manager, Denise Hollidge is working with Hagerstown Speedway on the schedules to ensure you will have options at both tracks to race at each week. Also please note, there will be a few rule changes in the upcoming season. Please stay tuned for those changes and the schedule to be released after the holidays. We believe Ryne has built the modifieds to what they are today in this region and has done a phenomenal job. We want to confirm with all of the supporters that there is a future for modifieds in this area.
