"Kyle Hardy Opens 90th Winchester Season With Late Model Double"
"Captures Limited and RUSH Late Model Victories"
By Doug Watson
Winchester Virginia, 3/14/26- Kyle Hardy got the Northeast Late Model season started in a big way as he swept to victories in both the Limited and RUSH Late Model features Saturday afternoon at Winchester Speedway. "This is a great way to start our season and a big thanks to Mike and Becky Hurley for providing us the equipment that we were able to run here today."
Kyle got the day started with a flag to flag win in the 20 lap RUSH Late Model feature as he darted from his second starting spot to eventually pace all 20 circuits. A six car pile up on the 13th lap brought out the red flag and even though there were several wounded race cars, nobody was seriously injured. On the suing restart 8th starting Logan Roberson arrived in second and would chase Hardy for the duration, but would have to settle for runner-up money. "Logan and I have run a lot of races together and I knew I couldn't make any mistakes with him in second, it was a good race." Kristopher Hutton came home with a podium finish of third, defending track champion Davin Kaiser was fourth and 12th starting Travis Campbell would complete the top five. Taking heat race wins over the 25 car field were Dylan Rutherford, Hardy and Kaiser.
Kyle's second win of the afternoon would be a little less anti-climactic as again he took full advantage of his outside front row starting spot to lead all 20 laps of the Limited Late Model feature. As Hardy set the pace, eventual runner-up Gerald Davis and Wesley Bonebrake battled for the spot with Davis earning the position as Hardy sped under the checkered flag uncontested. "This is a pretty cool deal to win both of these, I remember the first time we did it and I remember watching Gerald (Davis) and Brad (Omps) when I was a kid and it's pretty special to be able to do this again." Hardy was quite pleased with the performance of his Rocket No.99. "This is a new car, we won a Crate race with it in Florida, we knew it would be good back here at home and there's a few things we can do to make it better." Defending track champion Austin Stover took fourth with 9th starting Jonathan DeHaven rounding out the top five. Heats for the 18 entries went to Hardy and Davis.
Dylan Beavers drove to his first career Winchester feature win in the 15 lap hobby stock feature. Trailing Beavers at the finish were Larry Smith Jr, Brad Strawderman, Kristopher Kerr and in her career first start at the speedway Kiley Eaton would complete the top five. Beavers took the heat race victory.
AJ Hoffner would come out on top of a furious battle with Robbie Carroll to take the win in the season opening 15 lap SCDRA feature. Devon Iser, Samuel Regitz and Kevin Dotten would trail at the finish. Heats went to Carroll and Hoffner.
